The Run command dialog box makes it easy to access various apps on your Windows device.

Here’s how you can use this tool to open the Event Viewer:.

1.Press Win + R - to open the Run command dialog box.
2.Type eventvwr - press Enter to open the Event Viewer.

3.The Event Viewer can also be opened by pasting “eventvwr” into the File Explorer bar.

Viewing The Log Files

The event viewer allow you to select, filter, view and export events from all the logs.
The standard Logs are:
1.System: Features events related to system software and/or hardware. For instance, driver failures or installations.
2.Application: Contains events logged by (mostly) Windows applications.
3.Security: Contains events pertaining to the security of the Windows system. This may include failed login attempts.
4.Setup: Features system related event logs for setups and updates. For instance, Windows updates.



The event viewer allow you to create "Custom Views" to simplify viewing of particular log data.

Navigate to:
Custom Views>
 Right Click >
  Select "Create Custom View" >
   Fill in the Form as required and save with a relevant name.

1.Select a Time Range, if required.

2.Select an Event Level

3.Select an Event Source

4.Select an Event ID to narrow down the events.

5.Name, Describe and Save the View.

Once all is finished, your saved view is available to use any time required.

The events may be exported to a file for analysis.

Navigate to:
Custom Views>
 Right Click on the saved view >

 Click on "Save All Events in Custom View As" >
 Save to your preferred file type.
